Bitterness
She hangs her head low
and turns to walk away,
Not wanting you to see
the hurt in her eyes,
with the bitter words you had to say.
What a mess of it all , it seems
Words spoken aloud,
never to be erased.
Actions delivered with dismay.
Unknown bruises of black and blue
cover her heart in scars.
Wanting just to return to sleep,
peaceful in your arms
thoughts astray.
Sweetly, slumbering
forgetting for the moment,
frozen in time,
the bitter words you had to say.
